Skills
In Archero 2, skills are fundamental abilities that shape your gameplay experience and lasting for the duration of a single run. You acquire these skills throughout various game modes: during standard runs, they are typically offered upon leveling up or through special encounters, while in specific modes like the Arena, skills are automatically assigned to your hero in groups of three per round; they can also be obtained during certain other events.
These abilities are crucial for designing unique and effective builds, allowing you to tailor your strategy to your hero's strengths and weaknesses, and adapt to different enemy types. Their effects are incredibly varied, ranging from offensive enhancements like poisoning enemies with Venom, to tactical advantages such as projectiles that track foes with
Tracking Eye, or even crucial defensive safeguards like gaining an extra life with
Revive.
How is Damage Calculated?[edit | edit source]
Damage calculations in Archero 2 operate on a hybrid system that combines both additive and multiplicative mechanics. Your total damage output is determined by grouping certain buffs into categories, adding them together within those categories, and then multiplying the results of each category. There are 3 main categories that multiply between each other: Attack Power, Main weapon DMG and DMG.
- Attack Power (also ATK or ATK PWR). Affects all sources of damage as they all calculate their baseline damage value as
N x Attack Power
. There are some skills that claim to affect ATK, but don't (Swift Arrow and all the source specific buffs), and some skills that say they affect something else, but really they change Attack Power (
Stand Strong).
- Main weapon DMG. Only affects non-elemental part of main weapon damage and doesn't affect explosion damage coming from bow/crossbow either. Affected by:
Front Arrow, Sharp Arrow rune, Chaotic Dragoon crossbow effect.
- DMG is a mixed bag. Some skills affect a lot of damage sources (
Swift Arrow,
Tracking Eye,
Boss Slayer), some only one.
Examples:[edit | edit source]
- If we combine 20% Attack Power increase from
Giant's Strength with a 30% Attack Power decrease from
Weapon Enchantment we will get
1 + 0.2 - 0.3 = 0.9x
or a 10% decrease in damage. - If we add
Swift Arrow -20% DMG and
Front Arrow -15% Main weapon DMG to the first example we will get
(1 + 0.2 - 0.3)[ATK] x (1 - 0.2)[DMG] x (1 - 0.15)[Main weapon DMG] = 0.612x
or a 38.8% decrease in damage (per arrow) for main weapon, and(1 + 0.2 - 0.3)[ATK] x (1 - 0.2)[DMG] = 0.72x
or a 28% decrease for most other sources

How is Attack Speed Calculated?[edit | edit source]
Attack speed (AS) in Archero 2 uses a breakpoint system instead of linear scaling. This means your actual attack speed only increases when you reach specific thresholds of Attack Speed %. The same AS skill can increase your attack speed by 10% in one case, by 20% in another case, or do nothing at all until you add more AS skills to it in a third case.
Bow/Staff/Claws all follow different attack speed progressions. For more information check out Attack Speed calculation (Credit to Renox on Discord).
Weapon Enchantment applies approximately 25-30% AS penalty, but increases AS gained from all other skills by a small percentage. This allows Weapon Enchantment to "pay" for itself, reducing its penalty as your AS grows, effectively negating it at around 225% AS gained from other skills, and turning it into an attack speed buff past that point.
Charged skills don't change your position on the AS progression, instead they apply a multiplier to whatever speed you had: Charged Arrow applies 0.7x,
Energy Ring and
Energy Beam apply 0.6x. If multiple charged skills are taken, only the lowest multiplier is applied.
Skills Providers[edit | edit source]
You can obtain skills by various means, such as from starting a run, leveling up, through the roulette, as well as encountering an Angel, a Devil, and a Valkyrie, each offering a unique pool of skills.
Offers from the Valkyrie[edit | edit source]
The Valkyrie appears on stages ending in 5, every half/full minute in timed chapters or every 15 seconds, from 0:20 to 1:20 mark, in Monster Invasion/Seal. In Sky Tower, she shows up after every cleared room. Her skill pool offers a broad range of Legendary, Epic, and Rare skills, providing offensive, defensive, and utility options for all builds. The Devil typically appears after you defeat a boss in a chapter without taking damage, or under certain other conditions. True to his nature, his skill pool heavily favors aggressive, high-damage abilities. However, it also includes crucial defensive options, offering Legendary, Epic, and Rare skills.
